Descending into Monks Dale

Today was another day of great walking and fine weather as we crossed the Derbyshire Dales to arrive at Edale for the start of the Pennine Way tomorrow. We walked through the isolated Monks Dale, then Peter Dale, Hay Dale and finally the best of all, Cave Dale before arriving in the village of Castleton. It was then up and over Mam Tor, and then down into the Vale of Edale.

Today it felt like the walk was taking us rather than us taking the walk. We drifted down the dales and it all felt quite effortless and dream-like. We are sure there will be hard days ahead, but today we enjoyed floating along the path.

  1. That’s a beautiful stretch and you’ve had great weather. I hadn’t checked your post for a while- can’t believe how far you have gone in what seems such a short time. Keep on keeping on!

    1. So much joy! I can’t help but think of:
‘… And did those feet in ancient time
      Walk upon Englands mountains green…’

  2. Well done guys, looks like you have put so much effort and mileage in. Loving the updates.🥰

  3. If I was only following the blog, and not watching Strava, I’d be worried that you had both fallen off a cliff or something!
