In a world where songs with no depth or truth rule the airwaves, Mel wants to say something real. She is desperate to turn the clocks of the music industry back and bring something classy and beautiful … something with poignancy and clarity about the redemptive longing in the human condition.

On any platform she has, Mel is hungry to use her voice to be a voice for others: Saying the things people are afraid to say, and putting music to the stories of people, who otherwise, we would never hear about …

With heartbreaking melodies and conversational lyrics, Mel’s songs give you that ‘at home’ feeling’ …
So cozy up, listen in and enjoy.

Sixpeopleaway is the musical project of Alistair Merrick (vocals/guitar) and close friend and long time musical collaborator Robert Hitchen (bass/backing vocals).
Together they produce angular acoustic guitar and vocal-led songs with laptop-generated beats and sounds. Not much of a story really… (I could at least have pepped it up with some pirates or something maybe?).

Hello my name is Donna Maria Maciocia (ma-cho-cha). I’m from Scotland (with an italian surname), but currently living & working in London and love to make music (& art when I can!)

After art school I focused most of my time fronting my band Amplifico, which was a rollercoaster ride. When I started Amplifico back in 2004, I had little experience singing, songwriting and recording, and I was pretty naive about the workings of the music biz. I am now thankfully a lot wiser with more confidence & hundreds of gigs under my belt, but of course know I still have masses to learn. Sometimes I feel I have barely skimmed the surface, despite looking back on all that I have achieved! Throughout this time I also had the pleasure of touring & recording with KT Tunstall who heard me sing at a gig in edinburgh in 2004. These were totally brilliant experiences I am forever grateful for (you can hear me sing throughout KT’s Acoustic Extravaganza album/DVD)
